Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP24) taking place in Katowice is just around the corner. Planning one of the most important climate change conferences is in progress for a long time now. Countries’ representatives will take decisions about current global climate change policy during the Conference. However, regular citizens are also able to take action to combat climate change and its impacts. In Cracow, on 26th and 27th of October this year’s edition of Climathon will take its place.
What is Climathon?
Climathon is a global movement dedicated to solving city climate challenges. It takes place in different cities all around the world as a 24-hour hackathon and brings together city officials, citizens, students, developers, startup companies, technology specialists, NGO members, businesses and environment enthusiast. The main purpose of the Climathon is to face city climate challenges by implementing innovative solutions. Last year, 4551 citizens from all around the world came up with 628 creative solutions to help design a healthy, sustainable and climate-proof city. This year, 124 cities are taking part in the event. Team registration has started on 1st September.
In October, Cracow will hold the third edition of the Climathon where its participants will have the opportunity to take part in inspirational lectures, brainstorming sessions, and workshops. The most interesting and innovative project will be rewarded with 4000 PLN.

Preparing for the Climathon
Aeris Futuro Foundation works to protect the climate already for 12 years. This year, they encourage everybody to take part in the Climathon by organizing a series of events.

- „Creative Startup for climate” workshops on startups and how to build a successful team
- Climate Action Day – how to lower CO2 emissions, events located throughout whole Poland, 13th October.
