As a part of the LIFE project co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚ) „System dostarczania i wymiany informacji w celu strategicznego wspierania wdrażania polityki klimatyczno-energetycznej”, in the Institute of Environmental Protection (which is the project beneficiaries) there will be created CAKE-Centrum Analiz Klimatyczno-Energetycznych. CAKE will be studying the main influence of the realisation of the climate and energy policy on different industries of Polish economy.
As the part of co-financing the EU Programme LIFE by the NFOS, on 27th of July 2017 in the NFOS office there has been signed an agreement for the funding of the endeavour named „System dostarczania i wymiany informacji w celu strategicznego wspierania wdrażania polityki klimatyczno-energetycznej”, in which one of the beneficiaries is the Institute of Environmental Protection. The agreement has been signed by the NFOS president of the board – Dr. Eng. Kazimierz Kujda and Director of the IOŚ – Dr. Eng. Krystian Szczepański. The celebration of signing the agreement has been happening with the participation of Vice-Minister of the Environment, Governmental Plenipotentiary for the Climate Policy – Paweł Sałek. The Institute was represented also by the Deputy of the Director for the Emission Management, Manager of the National Center for Balancing and Emissions Management (KOBIZE) – Paweł Mzyk.
Realisation of this endeavour will cost in 10 million zloty in total, from this 6 millions will be subsidised by the EU. As the part of priority program of NFOŚiGW „Współfinansowanie Programu LIFE”, from which Polish parties can be granted financial support for the realised project, the Institute of Environmental Protection will get – based on the agreement made with the NFOS – over 2 million zloty. Almost 2 million zloty is the Institute’s own input to the project.
The endeavour of the Institute has been chosen as one of the best ones in all the EU in the European Commision 2016 Call. Project is also assuming not only creating the CAKE, but also elaboration of complex reports from the analysis of the climate and energy policy on among other things: Polish agriculture, transportation and energy sector, but also the system of few workshops for the officers of the public administration.
This is a very important event, which will have a serious impact on the Polish economy – Grażyna Hadjiraftis said – a Manager of the LIFE Programme Department, which from the side of NFOS is managing the support for the Polish parties applying for the financing from the mentioned programme.
This years call from the European Commission is ending in September, within the LIFE Programme beneficiaries can get up to 60% financing from the European Commission and up to 40% financing from the NFOS within the programme „Co-financing of the LIFE Program”.
